- I'm happy enough hiding the Sametime icon as indicated. I've re-re-re-reinstalled R8.5 so many times I'm pretty much not interested in doing it again. Hence the question relating to R8.5.1 ... I assume I'll have to install that. (grin) I'll do custom as suggested at that time.

- You are correct in that the many nsd.exe (across the many VMs) are only consuming 38k each, according to Process Explorer, and they don't *appear* to be getting any CPU time. I did think of one advantage to having it as a service, after posting ... the host OS doesn't run as admin and this has caused incomplete NSD logs in the past. Of course I have yet, in twelve years, to ever send a single NSD log to Lotus for any reason, so it's hard to see how an incomplete log would matter.
- I'll disable it in the spirit of trimming processes and see what happens.
